Monster Energy Leading Edge Kawasaki Sand Del Lee Race Report

Kamloops, B.C.(Aug 9, 2010) Things are coming down to the wire in the 2010 Monster Energy CMRC Canadian Motocross Nationals as the series made it's next to last appearance, near the Nation's capital as the series rolled into Richmond, Ontario's Sand Del Lee MX. The Monster Energy Leading Edge Kawasaki team came into the race with defending champion, Teddy Maier, looking to try and close the gap on current points leader, Tyler Medaglia.

The two riders who have established themselves as the clearcut favorites for the MX2 Championship quickly proved why they have been the class of the field all season long as they waged an epic all out battle in both motos with Medaglia leading and Maier trying everything he could to make the pass. In the end he would finish second in both motos for a hard fought second overall. Said Maier after the race, "My hat is off to Tyler. I gave it everything I had both motos and my bike was working awesome but I just couldn't quite make the pass. We've still got one race left and I'm not giving up yet. I'm going to give it everything I've got and see where the cards fall."

Team manager, Pat O'Connor, was proud of how his rider's day went: "I think the weekend went really well. Teddy did not win, but he rode awesome and had a great race with Tyler, maybe the best racing I have seen all year from either class. These two guys were not more than a couple seconds apart all weekend. Congrats to both of them for putting on a great race for the fans."

After missing the previous two rounds with a foot injury, Shawn Rife was back in action this weekend. The four-time moto winner was on pace with the lead pair of Medaglia and Maier early in moto one but he caught his foot in a rut and was forced to abandon the race. He's going to try and heal up and finish the series off next weekend with another win. Another victim of injuries was Spencer Knowles who despite crashing earlier in the week attempted to race but his hand proved too injured to hang on and he was forced to retire for the weekend.

The team now heads to the series finale next weekend at the Walton Trans Can in Walton, Ontario. For more information on the Monster Energy CMRC Canadian Motocross series check out the CMRC website at
