Team Tenacious - Michigan Race Report

Hi All, The lone green #81 Kawasaki and rider Nigel Heggarty were contenders in Michigan this past Sept. 6th and 7th weekend ! Nigel won both short track qualifiers and final races in the 401- 505cc A and the premier Combo 16yrs+Open classes on Saturday. On Sunday in the TT races he won both qualifiers and was looking for a repeat of Saturdays finals. He almost did it winning the 401- 505A class by a good margin. In the Combo 16yrs+Open final, he got the hole shot and led through turns 1 and 2 before someone tagged his rear wheel causing a 6 bike pile up. He took quite a tumble. We repaired the bike and he went out for the restart where he was relegated to the 3rd row. The poor starting position didn't seem to matter as he cut through the pack and moved into 3rd by the 2nd lap. Unfortunately he was trying perhaps too hard and lost the front end while attempting a pass for 2nd place. He was in last place by the time he picked himself and the bike up. Nigel then put on another gritty display catching and passing a number of riders to finish a credible 6th. The fans track side as well as in our pit afterwords had nothing but raves for his rides - he got almost as much cheering from the crowd as the race winners!
Saturday Sept. 20th we go to Petrolia for the CMRC National Series final event. Colin leads Nigel by 1 pt. in the Intermediate 450 Championship and Nigel leads Colin by 2 points in the Intermediate Open Class. The pair have gone handlebar to handlebar all summer so I expect we will see some pretty exciting racing between the 2 Team Tenacious/Inglis Cycle/Kawasaki Team Green riders as they go after each # 1 plate. As always, thanks to everyone for your support !
