2008 Parts Canada Superbike Championship
Round 2 - Race City Motorsport Park
For Immediate release:
Canadian Kawasaki's factory riders Jordan Szoke and Brett McCormick will start Sunday's Parts Canada superbike race from the front row, with Szoke in the pole position and McCormick in 4th after the afternoon superpole event. By taking poll, Szoke extends his points lead to 10 after a blistering lap time of 1:15.900. While McCormick rounds out the final front row position for Sunday's 22 lap feature race after a lap of 1:16.446 on his factory ZX-10R. In the Parts Canada Superbike championship, Szoke earned maximum points with his Superpole win and now sits at 54 points with McCormick starting to rebuild his championship hopes by taking the final qualifying point.
In the Yoshimura PRO 600 Sport bike class, the Canadian Kawasaki Racing team were determined to set the pace coming into this round after a strong 1-2 finish at Calabogie Motorsports park. The teammates battled back and forth for top honours during the 25 minute qualifying session, with only one other rider able to break into the 1:17 second bracket over the 3.2 KM course. As the session ended, Szoke had qualified in second with a lap of 1:17.585, just 0.061 seconds off pole while Brett placed third with a 1:17.947 on his ZX-6R. After rocketing to the top of the timesheets earlier in the session, McCormick had a minor incident in the final moments suffering a light crash which killed his chances to better his best lap. Although he quickly remounted and returned to the pits, the session ended before he was able to get back out and better his time. In the Yoshimura PRO 600 Sport bike class, Szoke extended his championship points total to 53 after earning three qualifying points, with Brett earning two increasing his points total to 44.
Look for both riders to be at the front when the flag drops for Sunday's races.
