With one of the longest off-seasons in recent memory, the 2008 CMRC Canadian National SuperMoto Series is set to begin with a bang with the first 3 races on consecutive weekends!
Round 1 is set for this weekend, June 28-29, in Jonquiere, Quebec. Nestled in the beautiful Lac Saint Jean region, this event will take place on a temporary course through the city streets, where upwards of 10,000 spectators are expected at this free event.
For Mississauga’s Adam Jabouri, 16, the 2008 season is all about focus. Specifically, that means racing only SuperMoto, and only the Pro Open and Pro 450 classes. Plenty of pre-season testing has shown that the Kawasaki KX450 will be a machine to contend with. Combined with Pro-Action Suspension, RK Engine Works, and Bridgestone Tires, the pre-season tests have been promising.
The National Series promises an exciting mix of events, with each course offering it’s own unique challenges:
National Supermoto championship:
June 28-29 Jonquière, Qué.
July 5 -6 Parry Sound, Ont.
July 12-13 Trois Rivières, Qué. (Exhibition grounds) A
ug 23 Fort Erie, Ont.
Sept. 13-14 Berthierville, Qué.
Sept. 27-28 Sarnia, Ont.
TBA Kahnawake (Montreal)
Team Jabouri Racing will also be attending some other high profile events, including the Parker Bros. Invitational SuperMoto race at Mosport along with the Parts Canada National Superbike event on July 18th, as well as what promises to be one of the biggest SuperMoto events in North America, the SuperMoto X-FEST at the picturesque Mecaglisse circuit on July 26-27.
“My goal is to be in the top 3 of the championship at the end of the season” comments Adam, “practicing with former champion Doug Beattie has been a help, and we have found a great set-up on the bike. Its ultra competitive but these guys (the pros) are great and we put on a sick show for the fans. Thanks also to Suzuki’s Peter Marcelli for arranging our last test at Shannonville.”
