August 21, 2014
John Parker wrapped up his third TT Flat Track Scrambles Championship south of the border in Medina, NY at the final round of the title hunt on July 27th. Parker dominated the proceedings on the part dirt track/part motocross track with true grit and style, winning every qualifier and feature race of the five-round series. Parker previously won the TT Flat Track Scrambles Championship in 2009 and 2010.
“July proved to be a good month for me both in Medina and Welland, winning every race I entered. Claiming my third TT Flat Track Scrambles Championship was very satisfying and testimony to the reliability of the 2014 Kawasaki KX450 DTX,” Parker said.
At the second CMA National Dirt Track Championship Pro ½ mile event of the season in Belleville, ON, August 9th, Parker rose to the occasion to nail down a close fourth place finish in both the 450 and Open classes.
Parker battled tooth-and-nail for third place in the Open showdown with his long time rival Chris Evans, trading positions back and forth to eventually settle for fourth at the finish line in close succession behind Evans, Don Taylor, and winner Tyler Seguin.
In the 450 class, Parker again poured on the gas, taking his potent KX450 to another noteworthy fourth place finish. This time in the slipstream of Fred Duchesneau, third; Chris Evans, second; and Tyler Seguin, who claimed his second win of the evening.
“Although I finished fourth at the first national in Belleville in June, also, I was much more comfortable on my bike and stayed in the mix with the frontrunners this time out. I was very pleased with my performance and my bike’s, which ran very strong and did what it was supposed to do,” Parker said.
The week before Belleville on August 2nd, Parker ventured to Woodstock, ON to take in ½ mile regional event on a rough and tumble track that saw him record fifth in the Open class, the only class on the schedule.
On July 26th, Parker returned to Welland, ON, to again dominate the Veteran class on the ¼ mile Niagara Motorcycle Raceway track, leading the express train to a definitive win ahead of Clarence, NY’s Sam Manyon in the final.
