We left home at 5:30am Saturday morning and drove till 3 in the afternoon. I signed up to ride in the 450 amateur class as well as the sportsman class (experts & amateurs combined). The bikes looked totally awesome as we rolled them out of the trailer. We had people coming up to us all night saying how good the bikes looked. I went out in the first practice and the track was mint. It wasn't really a ½ mile, more like a 3/8 mile cushion track with a little bit of banking so you could really carry some speed. The bike felt really good in practice and hooked up like crazy. Everything felt perfect throughout the practice sessions. My first heat was for the 450 amateur class.  I got a bad start but quickly worked my way up to 2nd. I followed the leader for several laps till I found a spot to pass. On the last corner of the last lap I drove it hard into turn 3 right up along the bails and then squared it up and cut down coming out of turn 4. I ended up getting a huge drive and winning the race by 2 bike lengths. In the sportsman heat I got a really bad start and spun it up coming off the line. Once again I worked my way up from the back. I got up to 4th and put my head down but ran out of time before I could make up the gap to 2nd and 3rd. The track was changing and the loose stuff was starting to get pushed off. I noticed that the front end was pushing in the middle of the corner so we made a couple minor adjustments to make the bike perfect for the main. Unfortunately we got rained out and our night was cut short.
