Monster Energy/Thor/Leading Edge Kawasaki at Sand Del Lee

August 13, 2008

Last weekend marked the second to last round of the 2008 CMRC National Motocross series and the Monster Energy/Thor/Leading Edge Kawasaki team made their way to the Sand Del Lee motocross park in Munster, Ontario near the nation's capital of Ottawa.

Though the weekend began with heavy rains and the threat of a mud race, by Sunday things had cleared up and the riders were treated to a great day of racing around the rough, sandy Sand Del Lee course. Teddy Maier was again the team's point man, putting his KX250F on the podium as usual, this time recording 3-4 moto scores for third overall. The podium finish moved the Iowa native all the way from 5th in the standings up to 3rd overall with one round to go. Maier's next goal is to finish off the season with a win as the series moves to the finale in Walton, Ontario.

Brock Hoyer had a banner day, battling up front in the first moto and showing that the BC native is no slouch in the sand. Hoyer scored his best overall finish of the season, recording an 8th overall on the strength of 7-10 moto scores. With his best finish so far, Hoyer is looking forward to stepping things up at the final round next weekend at Walton, a track he's experienced success on in the past.

This week the team will be competing in the final round at Walton, Ontario, home of the Walton Trans-Can Canadian Amateur Motocross Championships where Leading Edge supported Intermediate rider Greg Small will be competing in the MX1, MX2 and GP Intermediate classes
