McCormick Dominates, Szoke one step closer to the Superbike title.
August 30, 2008
Canadian Kawasaki's Brett McCormick proved today that his first career superpole earned at the last round was no fluke. McCormick took control of the pre-superpole warm up by setting the fastest time during the 10 session and then stormed to within tenths of the out right circuit record set by Jordan Szoke in 2007 to post a time of 1:04.656. For McCormick's teammate, today's superpole event was undertaken with calculated precision with a cautious Szoke setting a time of 1:04.741 to make it a Kawasaki 1-2 for the start of tomorrows Superbike final. The position also netted Szoke three additional championship points bringing his total to 45 over Clint McBain.
In sportbike qualifying, Szoke will round out the front row in forth with McCormick starting from 6th. Both riders used the early stages of the qualifying session to refine their set-up for tomorrow race after loosing the three previous practice sessions due to wet track conditions.
With tomorrows weather forecasts near perfect and both riders confident in their race set-ups, the stage is set for an exciting end to the season.
