John Parker Racing ready for 2017 flat track season with Dave Pouliot

May 2, 2017

It was a busy winter for John Parker Racing, dealing with the restructuring of the Canadian Kawasaki Motors backed team and getting the Kawasaki KX450s ready for the 2017 season. Dave Pouliot, who with support from Parker Racing claimed second place in the Pro 450 Championship and fourth in Pro Open last year, will be the team’s featured rider.

Team owner John Parker, who announced his retirement from pro racing at the end of the 2016 season, intends to enter only a few selected Veteran races at Welland County Speedway, his home track. In addition to that, he will be heading south of the border to Medina, NY, to defend his TT Flat Track Scrambles Championship.

Parker will be gunning for his sixth title in the five-round series.

“It seems like I’ve been living in my shop this past winter and well into spring, getting the equipment built and taking care of all the other tasks it takes to run a competitive flat track team,” Parker said.

During the off season Pouliot represented John Parker Racing at a number of motorcycle shows in Quebec as well as the Toronto Motorcycle Show in Ontario, which Parker also attended to meet and greet racing fans, motorcycle enthusiasts, and denizens of the industry.

The Toronto Motorcycle Show provided Pouliot with the opportunity to get acquainted with the people of Kawasaki’s racing program and some of Parker Racing’s other sponsors.

“I’m happy to announce that all of last year’s sponsors are continuing on with their support of the team. And we have some new ones as well that Dave is bringing into the mix. We’re both eagerly looking forward to the start of the season. For me, it will take some getting used to, though, being the guy in the pits and watching the action from the sidelines,” Parker said.

While Parker tooled away in his race shop getting everything ready for the rapidly approaching season, which kicks off at the Woodstock Fair Grounds in Woodstock, Ontario on May 20th, Pouliot regularly hit the gym to maintain his physical edge and did some ice racing on the side to get at least a bit of saddle time in during the winter months.
