Hayes second, Alessi third at Round Seven of CMRC Series

July 26, 2017

This weekend the CMRC Canadian Motocross National series made its way to the east coast for round seven of the series, at the Pleasant Valley MX track, in Brookfield, Nova Scotia and the Monster Energy Alpinestars Kawasaki team was excited to capitalize on the recent speed they’ve been showing through the second half of the series and embrace the great east coast fans.

In MX1, Mike Alessi was quick from the get go as he logged the second quickest time in qualifying and a great start in moto one to grab the early lead. He would go on to finish second in the moto and set himself up for the overall win. He again grabbed the lead in moto two but unfortunately, a flat front tire suffered on the rocky surface left him nursing it home to finish seventh in moto two. A relegation to Christophe Pourcel bumped him up to sixth, which gave him third overall on the day and his third podium in the past four races. He now sits fourth overall in the MX1 points standings with three rounds remaining.

In MX2, Jacob Hayes had a solid qualifying result, with the fifth quickest time. He rode to a fourth in moto one. In moto two, he grabbed a top five start and started making a charge to the front. He caught the leader with a few laps to go and made a big push to take the win. Side by side as they crossed the finish line, he narrowly finished second, good enough to give him second overall on the day.

The series now heads two hours west, to the Riverglade MX facility, near Moncton, New Brunswick for Round Eight.
