Race Two Podium Extends Rea’s Championship Lead

In a wet second Superbike World Championship race at Sepang Kawasaki Racing Team rider Jonathan Rea secure third place and a strong points score to extend his championship lead to 42 points. Tom Sykes (KRT) could not replicate his race one victory in the wet of day two and he finished up eighth. He is still third in the overall championship standings. With no previous wet experience to call on at the resurfaced Sepang circuit both official Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R riders had little time to find a good set-up on full wet tyres. Starting from pole in the case of Tom and third place in the case of Jonathan they made good launches from the startline in search of more podium success.

Jonathan Rea And Kawasaki Together For Two More Years

Reigning FIM Superbike World Champion Jonathan Rea has re-signed with Kawasaki’s official KRT effort to compete for two more years on the class-leading latest model Ninja ZX-10R. Sixth Round Starts Soon For Rea And Sykes At A Modified Sepang

The forthcoming sixth round of the 2016 FIM Superbike World Championship at Sepang in Malaysia will be held at a familiar venue for KRT riders Jonathan Rea and Tom Sykes, not least as it was the launch venue for the 2016 showroom model Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R. This coming weekend they will be racing their new model Ninja ZX-10Rs on new asphalt after a comprehensive resurfacing programme at the 5.543km circuit. After five rounds of the now 13-round WorldSBK championship have been completed KRT riders sit first and third overall, with reigning champion Jonathan Rea enjoying a 35 point series lead and his team-mate Tom Sykes sitting 32 points from second place.
