Team Tenacious/Inglis Cycle Race Report - St. Marcel

September 4, 2008

I am happy to report the Team Tenacious/Inglis Cycle/Team Kawasaki Green riders' #81 Nigel Heggarty & brother #27 Colin Heggarty are doing rather well in both 2008 CMA & CMRC National Dirt Track Series.

This past weekend they rocked at the 2nd last CMRC National Short Track in St. Marcel Quebec. The boys battled handlebar to handlebar in both features claiming 1st & 2nd in Intermediate 450 & Open classes. From the feedback we received they provided the best racing of the event. Nigel on the #81 bike won both 450 and open finals with Colin's #27 a close 2nd in both classes.

The brothers now sit 1st and 2nd in both CMRC Intermediate 450 and Open classes going into the final CMRC event at Petroilia later in September.

The weekend before we were at the CMA sanctioned Norm Carr Classic 1/2 Mile National in Belleville Ontario. Colin rode in the Intermediate 450 and 600 classes and Nigel in Expert. Colin put in great rides in both 450 and 600 classes. He came back from half a straight away deficit to win the Intermediate 450 class by the same margin. He could not repeat it in the 600 class but tried, suffering a last lap last corner pass by New York rider Cody Johncox on his Rotax 600 . Colin and eventual winner Harley Dunn provided the crowd with great racing with Colin continuously trying to pass but not quite able to make it stick. With the win in the 450 class and a 3rd in the 600, Colin was able to clinch the 2008 CMA National Intermediate 600 championship and claim runner-up in the 450 class. A missed event caused by an injury at the Leamington 1/2 mile cost him the 450 championship. Nigel also rode well in the Expert classes but was off the pace finishing 10th and 12th. After his first season as a CMA Expert, Nigel has shown he can ride with the best in Canada but it has been made clear to us we will need to step up our program to run in the Expert/Pro ranks. Winter is coming so we look forward to preparing for next season. In the meantime we still have some races to run. This weekend Team Tenacious/Inglis Cycle/Team Kawasaki Green is after the AMA District #14 Michigan State Championship and later in September the CMRC final race in Petroilia. Wish us luck.
