Team Jabouri - Rd. 4 RACE Super Series

July 27, 2007

Shannonville, ON
Last weekend's Regional Road Race at Shannonville Motorsports Park proved to be an eventful one for Mississauga's 15 year old rookie road racer, Adam Jabouri .......

Running 3 classes on his Kawasaki KX450 and ZX6-RR (Moto, 600 Sport, and Superbike), and in only his 4th road race ever, Jabouri qualified in 2nd, 7th, and 12th, respectively. In the Moto class, Jabouri got a great start and tucked in behind hole shot artist John Chemelo. Jabouri was able to quickly get around Chemelo before the end of the first lap, but was being caught by round 1 winner Patrick Chartrand and series champion Paul Bastarache. Jabouri eventually settled for a 3rd place finish even as Bastarache's machine ran out of gas as he crossed the finish line! In the Superbike class, Jabouri got a great launch and was busy chasing the leaders, he eventually finished in 8th place - his best result in that class. In the 600 class, a great qualifying effort had Jabouri in row 2, where he got another excellent start. Running in 5th place, behind pole position sitter Tony Lanni, and ahead of Sean Huffman, the 3 riders had a spirited battle all race long .......

As the riders got the last lap flag, Jabouri was still on Lanni's tail, who was then riding defensively and protecting his lines. Jabouri then tried an outside pass in turn 4 of the long track, but the riders touched and Jabouri "lost the front" and low sided .......

Although Jabouri's crash looked minor, his leg had been trapped underneath his motorcycle as it slid down the track. He quickly got to his feet and picked up his motorcycle, but realized that he had hurt his left foot and was in evident pain. The ambulance was eventually dispatched to attend to Jabouri's injuries. "I want to thank BMW's Dr. Walker for getting to me right away" commented Jabouri afterwards "turns out that I have a broken toe and some stitches to close the open fracture. It's a minor injury that's more annoying than anything and I won't let it get in my way."

Next weekend will be round 5 of the Race Super Series, held at Shannoville's Fabi circuit. Jabouri intends to race that round If his foot has healed enough, but his focus is to be ready for the SuperMoto National round in Sarnia on August 12th.
