Team Freedom Cycle's Race Report, Round 1 May 4th

May 22, 2008

Round one, Clyde River Nova Scotia, May 4th, 2008.

It was a sunny but chilly day that greeted competitors for the opening round of the atlantic region motocross championships. Team Freedom Cycle rider's, Kyle Elliott and David Estabrooks were set for the first MX1 moto's of the year. Elliott carded a 4th place start behind Davey Fraser, Johnny Montes and Kyle Ledwidge, but immediately started to challenge for 3rd position. A slip on the second lap dropped him back a position, and later a stall dropped him way back from the leaders. Kyle pushed onward and came home with a solid 4th place result in the first moto. David Estabrooks also suffered a fall and ended up 5th. Kyle got a great start in the second moto and pulled up behind Fraser and challenged him for most of the moto, before settling for 2nd position and 2nd overall for the day. This is a solid start for the season. Estabrooks followed up his first moto finish with a 5th in the second moto for 5th overall for the day.

Junior riders Andy Manuel and Patrick Reid also scored strong finishes in the MX1 junior and MX2 junior classes respectively. Team Freedom Cycle looks forward to the second round of the championship, May18th, in Kingston Nova Scotia. Kyle Elliott will also travel to Ste. Julie with the team, joining Heidi Cooke at the first National event of the season.
