Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki Joey Savatgy Earns his Fifth Podium of the Season

April 4, 2016

The Monster Energy® AMA Supercross, an FIM Championship, made its way back to the West Coast for Round 12 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. After taking pole position in afternoon qualifying, Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Eli Tomac headed into the night show with the speed and confidence to be on the top of the podium. Both Tomac and teammate Josh Grant qualified out of the semi final races with Tomac finishing runner up in Semi 1 and Grant taking the win in Semi 2. In the Main Event, Tomac and Grant would round Turn 1 in 14th and 18th respectively. By the half-way point Tomac had raced his way into the top 10 and would eventually work his way up to a final seventh place. Grant, who tangled with another rider early in the Main Event, carved his way through the pack and finished a hard earned 12th.

“We started off the weekend great after qualifying fastest in timed practice,” said Tomac. “My starts were what really hurt me tonight as both in my heat and in the Main Event I started outside the top-10. I know my speed is there which is a good feeling, we just need to keep working and moving forward for the next five rounds.”
