Metcalfe wins final moto of the season at series finale

August 18, 2015(Kamloops, BC) The 2015 CMRC Canadian Motocross National series reached its conclusion this past Sunday as the series made its way to the traditional ending point, at the Parts Canada Walton TransCan, in Walton, Ontario. Spirits were high, with Brett Metcalfe looking to finish the season off on a high point and much-heralded amateur rider, Darian Sanayei, making his Pro debut in MX2 alongside Cole Martinez.

In MX1, Metcalfe started the day off with a fourth place qualifying time before disaster struck off the start of moto one, as he was caught up in a first turn crash. Picking his bike up, he put in an incredible charge as he rode all the way from last place, through the pack, on his way to fifth place by the time the checkered flag flew. In moto two, he would make no mistakes as he grabbed the holeshot and rode a flawless race to take the final moto win of the season. With the final round in the books, Metcalfe ended the MX1 title chase in third place overall on the season.

In MX2, the team had an opportunity to bring up Team Green Amateur rider, Darian Sanayei, from Washington State to make his Pro MX debut at Walton. Hot off a pair of second place finishes in the A classes at the Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National Championships the week before, Sanayei proved he had the speed to run up front right from the get go as he qualified in second place. A great start in moto one saw him lead briefly before settling in to finish fourth. A holeshot in moto two saw him again in the lead and he rode another consistent race to finish with another fourth place finish on the day and fifth overall.

Cole Martinez capped his inaugural Canadian MX season off with another consistent ride as he rode to a pair of sixth place finishes to give him seventh overall on the day. Despite missing three rounds due to injury, Martinez still managed to finish the season in tenth place in the final MX2 standings.

The team is extremely thankful for all the support they received in racing this season. Everyone is looking forward to working hard in the off-season to reclaim the MX1 and MX2 titles. For more information on the CMRC Canadian Motocross series, visit
