Monster Energy Thor Kawasaki Stays in Championship Hunt at Deschambault
July 28, 2015
Brett Metcalfe second overall on a wet day in Quebec
July 28, 2015(Kamloops, BC) With a win last weekend at Sand Del Lee, expectations were high as the Monster Energy Thor Kawasaki came into another sand track, the Deschambault circuit, near Quebec City, in the French-speaking province of Quebec.
Rain fell all morning, but it proved no problem for Metcalfe as he qualified Number One. In both motos, he worked his way to the front and came up just short, finishing third in moto one and an extremely close second in moto two, for second overall. With three rounds to go, the 2013 Champion sits 22 points down from taking his second Canadian title.
It was a rough day for Teddy Maier. The two-time MX2 champion qualified 6th in the morning qualifying session but a crash in moto one left him with a broken wrist. The Iowa native will be out indefinitely.
In MX2, despite hailing from the hot, dry state of Arizona, Cole Martinez proved to be no slouch in the rain as he qualified in 5th place after the MX2 qualifying sessions. Starting around tenth in moto one, he worked his way up to sixth by moto’s end. Another top ten start in moto two saw him working his way towards the front when a collision with another rider left him with a broken front brake. He managed to salvage a twelfth place finish, good enough for eighth overall.
The series now heads to the East Coast, as they take on the Riverglade MX track, near Moncton, New Brunswick next weekend. For more information on the CMRC Canadian Motocross series, visit www.cmrcracing.com
