2008 Parts Canada Superbike Championship
Mosport International Raceway ~ Rounds 3 & 4

As the first double header of the season got underway at the 3.9 km Mosport International Raceway the defending series Champion Jordan Szoke and rookie sensation Brett McCormick started today's sessions slowly but ended off in good form for the upcoming races Saturday and Sunday.

In the provisional qualifying session leading up to the Pirelli Superbike Superpole, McCormick secured the 3rd fastest time with Szoke earning the 5th as both riders worked through refinements to their chassis settings on the ZX-10R. Just as Superpole got underway, the afternoon sun finally burned through the heavy hazy and humidity of the afternoon which provided near perfect conditions for the ultra sticky Pirelli rubber.  Szoke, always the charger put his head down and clocked his personal best time of the weekend thus far with a 1:21.945. A time that would keep him at the top of the time sheets until the final rider posted a time just 0.238 seconds faster.  McCormick also bettered his personal best time and recorded a 1:22.212 and will start from row 2 just off the front row by 0.058 seconds to start 5th.  Szoke's result will add three qualifying points to his total and now leads the Championship by 13 points.

During Sport bike qualifying,  McCormick put in an outstanding lap of 1:23.250, just 0.120 seconds off the pole position to qualify 3rd on his ZX-6R.  Szoke who was visibly frustrated after the session ended was unable to get in a clean lap and posted a 1:23.712 to qualify 4th, just 0.582 seconds off the fastest time. Szoke and McCormick are in a tight battle for first in the Sport bike Championship with McCormick using today to close the gap to his teammate by adding 2 qualifying points to his total and reducing Szoke's lead to 30.
