Bulldog Powersports Karen Grujic on Pole

May 8, 2008

RACE Regional round 2 was on Shannonville's Nelson track this past weekend with weather conditions cold and wet.

Despite the miserable weather, Grujic managed to blast through her Expert Women’s qualifying session in the pouring rain, and was the fastest women on the track, earning  her pole position for Sunday’s race.

Launching one of her “shot gun” starts, Grujic took the hole shot, beating  Pro rider Marie-Jose Boucher to the first corner.  She continued to lead for the majority of the race.  Fighting to keep her lead,  Grujic made a few errors which caused her to slip into third position for the final lap.

“I knew Nat was right behind me and was going to make a move.  Unfortunately for me, her move stuck in corner #5.”

Grujic aggressively crossed the finish line in 4th postion,  inches behind 3rd place.

With Grujic’s extra points for pole, she still holds her 3rd place postion for the season.

Having only 16 riders in Amateur 600, a top 10 finish was not out of Grujic's reach, however due to a minor mechanical malfunction, she was forced to exit the track early leaving her in 16th position.

“It was a tough weekend.  The weather really made it difficult, but I’m extremely happy with my Expert Women’s race, and look forward to battling with the girls again in two weeks.”

Grujic would like to thank her sponsors for making this weekend possible, Bulldog Powersports, Canadian Kawasaki, Accelerated Technologies, Hindle, Shark, Kimpex, Vortex, Mimic Industries, and Xtreme Graphics.
