Atlantic Spring Series-Round 5

July 9, 2007

Freedom Cycle had a good weekend in Mill Hill Nova Scotia with 125pro rider Kyle Elliott bringing home a second overall score after posting 4-2 moto scores.Kyle is the current 125 pro series point leader, which we are very proud of.Kyle has been riding outstandingly this season and is showing very, very strong at the races. We are hoping for a championship from Kyle!!David Estabrooks carded  7-6 moto scores giving him 4th overall for the day.David currently sits in 3rd place in 125 pro series points, good job from first year pro David!!

In the MX-1 class,David Estabrooks posted 7-6 moto scores for a 6th overall performance for the day.David currently sits in 3rd place in the MX-1 series point standings. The big surprise of the day came from Freedom Cycle Kawasaki's Kyle Elliott, who borrowed team owner,Randy Mcleod's 07 KX450f,and posted 4-3 moto scores to pick up a 3rd overall for the day. This was only Kyles second time on a 450,and his first race on the big bike, outstanding performance!!This performance was a real eye opener for the team as Kyle was racing with the likes of Mitchell Cooke, who sits 3rd in the National MX series.Kyle battled all day with Honda's Charlie Smith, and narrowly came 3rd in the second moto after pushing Smith hard the last 2 laps, and just coming half a wheel short at the finish line.Because of this great job from Kyle,Randy is going to allow Kyle to compete the rest of the season in MX-1,with a couple National Championship appearances as well.

Heidi Cooke is currently in Calgary for this weekends womens national event.Heidi currently holds a 7 point lead over defending womens champ Jolene Van Vught. We are hopefull for another win from Heidi. On  a side note,Heidi did compete in Budds Creek a few weeks back, and placed 11th overall. This result was very disappointing for Heidi as she had the speed to run top 5 but poor starts resulting from late gate picks.Series regulars get first picks,so this pushed Heidi to nearly the last gate pic,and Budds Creek required a inside pick to get a good start.None the less,Heidi gained a lot of valuable experience that she can use during the Canadian series.

Our next regional event is in 2 weeks time in Port Elgin,New Brunswick.
