John Parker Inducted Into Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame
November 12, 2013
Although the dirt track season was a write-off for John Parker this year, after a crash in Medina, NY in mid-July left him with a fractured pelvis, 2013 ended on a high note for the veteran, with his induction into the Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame on November 2nd.
The induction banquet, which was held at the Delta Meadowvale Hotel in Mississauga, ON, saw a huge gathering of Canadian motorcycle industry luminaries to honour Parker (pictured right, second row in above photo) and fellow inductees Dave Sehl, Peter Grant, Wesley Pierce, Zdeno Syrovy, Ken Hatton, Don Haddow, Stuart Munro, Tony Miller and George Pepper
Never at a loss for words, Parker also received the unofficial “longest speech” award of the night, reminiscing about his lengthy career and thanking the myriad number of people who helped him out along the way.
“It was a great honour for me being inducted into the Hall of Fame, especially on this occasion, which also included the induction of two big influences and dirt track racing friends of mine, Dave Sehl and Peter Grant,” Parker said. “I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate Dave and Peter, as well as the other inductees. It was a memorable evening for me. One I will always treasure. And it sure helped make up for my short racing season this year.”With the racing season now officially over, and Parker mending well from his Medina crash injuries (he has been out trail riding on a few occasions), thoughts and preparation for the 2014 season is already underway and everything is on track.
“I’m glad to announce that all my main and secondary sponsors are aboard for next year, including Inglis Cycle/Kawasaki Canada. I recently took delivery of the new Kawasaki KX450 DTX and it’s an awesome bike. “I’m really looking forward to getting back in the racing mode and hopefully take in some unofficial ice racing events this winter.
John Parker Racing’s 2014 sponsors include: Canadian Kawasaki, Inglis Cycle Centre, Scorpion Helmets, 26 Suspension, Hot Cams, Pivot Works, Vertex Pistons, IM Leathers, Bickle Racing, Extreme Measures Kustom Paint, Saddlemen, Ron Wood Racing, A&A Racing, Garrett 64, DeCal Works, Bull’s Eye Media Relations.
